The first step we look to teach your dog is the learning how to learn phase. We do this by bonding and teaching your dog the skills necessary to become a dog that is highly motivated and wants to train! Very important to build the bond before you start training. After we have the solid bond, we introduce food. A food motivated dog is a trainable dog! If we have a dog that isn't motivated by their food, we put them on the right exercise plan to burn the calories necessary to build food drive! They learn how to earn meals through training which is just going to build even more motivation! So, in this first week we focus on building a strong bond and relationship with your dog so we have a solid obedience foundation.

This is what we like to call the command stage where we add a name to the behavior! This week we focus on introducing leash pressure so that your dog can learn how to communicate and understand the language of the leash! Developing politeness and none pulling behaviors while they are on leash is what we work on the most this week! We work on charging our makers which means building value to our commands so we can shape the behaviors we want to see out of our doggie clients. So that when they come back to you, they will have the solid foundation set in place to succeed.

In this last week we work on the proofing stage of training. This is where we focus on taking your dog on field trips to new places! It's important that we build the dogs obedience in every kind of environment! The more places they're able to train the better the training becomes. This will create a dog that thinks before they act! Learning to focus on you even when something more exciting is going on such as new people, dogs, children, etc. Our number one goal here at Golden Coast Dog Training is to build a neutral dog that is ready for the real world!
